News was received here yesterday of the death of Mr. Frank Meadows at Wilson. He died Thursday night af- y at Chadbourn, was here yesterday with a number of new re cruits for the colony. He was accom panied by Mr. D. H. Harnley, editor of the Planters' and Truckers" Jour nal, who has been to his former home in Illinois to spend Christmas. The party "Were stopping at the Bonitz House, and left on the 4 o'clock train for Chadbourn. The prospectors will be back here in a week or so, most of them on their way home to get their effects and come South to live. The colony is growing rapidly. The inducements that are offered are such that the Western farmers cannot re sist them. The climate is good, so is the soil, aud the price of land is very the tenth anniversary of their organ! zation. The date chosen for the cele bration is January 31st and the pro gramme is in charge of Miss Cannie Chasten. The Association was really organ ized ten years ago the' 5th of last No vember. The deferment of the cele bration has been in order that accu rate reports of the full year's work might be prepared. This anni versary event is to be held in the auditorium, and aside from the reports and address there is to be a special musical programme in which it is promised that much of the very best talent of the city is to participate.
